In 2019 when Sharonda Ware, her husband Dwight Ware and their three kids moved to Huntsville, Alabama from the DC metro area, it seemed like there were only family-friendly activities and nothing to do for date nights. But after finding out things by word of mouth, following certain individuals' social media, digging through Eventbrite, she was able to plan out her social calendar and support causes at galas, attend comedy shows, and concerts. The effort needed to search for these events inspired her to create the website and community, Chocolate Rocket City.

Chocolate Rocket City is a one-stop shop for things to do, places to eat and events to attend in the Huntsville area that appeal to a soulful audience. It is both a website, a blog and a community of folks that want to save time planning to go out and have some reassurance that they have a level of quality control on where they are spending their time and money. Becoming a member of the Chocolate Rocket City community will connect newer residents and natives and create a more efficient way for restaurant and venue owners, promoters, community groups, and anyone planning major events to "get the word" out--even if you're not on social media. The next time someone says, "I didn't know that was happening," you can reply, "well it was on Chocolate Rocket City! You should join!"
